What is a First Look?

1. Private time with your man before the chaos hits

We love that in the midst of all the craziness that comes with your wedding day, you get to have a moment to pause and have quality time with your future husband. Most of this day is going to be in front of people, but when choose to have a first look, you get to have some one on one time.

2. You get the tears out of the way before the ceremony

Of course, you’ll have other opportunities for tears later on in the day but having a first look will help break up the moments. We’re not saying you’re not going to cry on the walk down the aisle, but at least you’ll get a chance to touch up your makeup.

3. More time at the reception

When you go ahead and have your first look, you can move on to having the wedding party pictures and the family pictures taken before the ceremony. This leaves you with more time to go directly to your wedding reception after the ceremony! Such a win! Party on!

4. Daylight savings

Unfortunately, if you’re planning to get married in the winter months, you will have a very limited amount of sunlight. By having a first look, you can make the most of the time you have by choosing to take pictures before the wedding ceremony.

5. Make the memory stick

We all remember our wedding day, but that does not remember that everyone remembers all the details of their weddings. Cutting out this specific time to be with your man will help you differentiate the memories of the rest of the day. It is so important to be intentional with your time, but often time that can be a challenge on busy days— especially when your nerves are through the roof! Taking this time to just be together and get some pictures made will help you remember other parts of your wedding, too! The more intentional you are, the sharper your memories will stay!

6. You’ll STILL have your special moment walking down the aisle

If anything, having a first look means MORE special moments. Nothing about a first look will take away how happy your groom will be to see you walk down the aisle.
